Mark It Right, Keep It Tight: Data Protection Made Easy

Microsoft Sensitivity Labels make it easy to mark how private something is—like an email or document—right within Microsoft 365 apps such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Think of it like putting a “Private,” “Confidential,” or “Public” sticker on a file so everyone knows how to treat it. For example, a “Confidential” label might stop a document from being printed or forwarded, while a “Public” label means it’s okay to share.

Some labels even protect the file automatically, like locking it down so only certain people can open it. This helps keep sensitive information—like internal plans, Tribal records, or personal data—safe and makes sure it only goes to the right people, all without adding extra steps to your day.
